American oxygen rules at a glance

NoticeAdd special assistance when you book, or later under Special Services in your trip. American recommends requesting it as far ahead as possible.
PaperworkBring American’s Physician’s Consent Form, signed by you and your doctor with your flow rate, device model and when you’ll use it.
At the gateCheck in at the gate so an agent can confirm your POC is approved, check that you can operate it and respond to alarms, and review your batteries.
BatteriesBring fully charged batteries for no less than 150% of the flight plus ground connection time, including delays. Don’t count on a power outlet.
SeatingNo emergency exit or bulkhead seats, or any seat that blocks another passenger’s aisle access. The POC must fit under the seat in front of you.
In flightYou can use the POC away from your seat only when the seatbelt sign is off.
